We are delighted to share exciting updates from the Early Years Team, who have been working closely with settings and schools to support the implementation of the National Early Years Entitlement and Wraparound Childcare Programme.
These vital initiatives aim to:
• Increase access to wraparound care for school-aged children.
• Expand the 30-hour entitlement for working parents of children aged 9 months to school age.
Funding to Support Growth
As part of this programme, two key funding streams have been made available:
Capital Funding
The Department for Education (DfE) has allocated £100 million nationally, with £679,000 awarded to East Riding. This funding is being used to:
• Expand physical infrastructure in early years settings and out-of-school care services for school-aged children.
• Ensure inclusive, high-quality provision for all children, including those with SEND.
Wraparound Programme Funding
An additional £253 million has been distributed nationally, with £2,025,018 allocated to East Riding. This supports:
• The setup and expansion of wraparound care for school-aged children.
• Recruitment, training, and resource development to meet growing demand.
What We've Achieved Together
Thanks to your dedication and collaboration:
• 338 new early years places and 278 new wraparound places have been created through capital improvements.
